Space Dream
Description
I would say that Exquisite Corpse is like the idea of collage making we do all the time in architecture illustration. It is a very use fun and fun way to show a basic idea or tell a story. In this project, we have 3 people form a group in which we each design a character and change the body parts of or characters and then make the collage to tell a story about this new character.
Design Process
The original drawing of my character is a robot. He is character that once appeared in my dream. He is a little guy that follows people all the time to give you guidance in the dream world. I immediately sketched it out when I woke up from that dream.
The second character is made by Lu. Lu drew a pink-haired girl with pink dress. I really like the style as she looks like a little fairy.
The third character is a cool guy by Erin. The guy is in pretty cool outfits with a hat and a pink sweater on. I feel like I could make some matches with these characters' outfits.
The character that I made later which is made out of the combination of three of the characters from my teammate and I, is a adventerous space explorer. She lost her legs one time so she installed machenical legs. She has her helmet ready to go on the rocket and explore the universe. I use the pink haired girl as the main look og the character, and use the robot body part from mineto connect to her head. I have the outfit from Erin used as her jacket. The helmet is also from my robot. I added a graphic of rocket at the background.
Reflection
It is not hard to put all the body parts together, but it needs creativity to make them look better and give the "made-up" character a story. I feel like this kind of form is kind of similar to the dress-up game. We can change any body parts or dresses and accesories just to make the character look better. Today, we even have apps made for real people to preview any haircut or dresses they would like to get. It is very interesting to see how a simple form could be transfered or etended to something else.
