Lost and Found

Description

The project is to describe an lost object to an assigned partner to code out the object illustration. My partner's object description is below here:

"It goes through people’s body, but not everyone has it. People who got it either got it in pairs, or just a single one, or even more It is a thin circle, with a joint at the very bottom to open up the circle. the left half of the circle is gold and the other silver. On the top where the gold meets silver, is joined together by thin needle, comes out from the gold and ends in the silver part where a hole holds the end of that needle. The needle is around 1/4 long of the circle."

Design Process

In order to draw out the object, I first imagined what it mihght look like and did some conceptual drawings to illustrate the ideas and having a general style of my design. I thought about drawing it as a substract painting like cubism, but it turns out not as good as I thought.

After drawing out with colors, I thought it is better to strat with linework design so I start with that instead and it worked well.

Reflection

My partner did a very good job in describing the object as he lays out the details of it in shapes, colors, and exact lenght of the hook of that is part of this object. He also used very plain language to lead me through imagining what it looks like and what it possibly could be.This object is obviouly a ear hook in the color of gold and silver with the hook part that goes through the earhole relatively long.

The process of working on this assignment for me is to first design on how I want to illustrate the object so I did some simple sketches with color matching on my ipad first. Then I began to seperate the graphic design into different layers to arrange the whole drawing and coding logic.

It is a challenge for me to think through the whole drawing logic as which part of the geometry goes first and which goes later to create the effects I want. To me, the most important process here is testing. I have been keep testing and adjust to make all the designs the perfect positions to build the structure.
